Google defines a digital footprint as the trail of data you leave when using the internet, which can be tracked to monitor your online activities and devices. However, I perceive a digital footprint as a person's online identity. It identifies you and traces everything you do.

Importance of Digital Footprint

Discussing digital footprints is crucial with your students. Given their current age and level, they may not comprehend the implications of their online activities. They might not realize that everything they do on the internet can grant access to strangers and that they can be easily tracked. Thanks to this class, I learned something important, and I can teach my students about it.

Addressing Footprint

The picture below can assist my students in managing their digital footprint. Today, many individuals, including children, spend about 50 % of their time online. They either participate in crucial activities, relieve stress, or engage in activities of little significance. It is essential to inform students that a digital footprint is created through consistent internet use. Thus, this digital footprint can also endanger their lives by revealing too much information about them to strangers online. To ensure my students' safety, it is advisable to present the 5 P's for a positive digital footprint to them and recommend that they apply them.
